Talk:Osho Timeline 1977

There may be some unclarity concerning the exact location of Hindi discourses for this period (Buddha Hall vs Chuang Tzu Auditorium). For now, location for the high season and celebrations will be entered as Buddha Hall, and for the rest of the year Chuang Tzu.

As of this writing, no reliable source has been found for this information. Anecdotal sources and memory suggest different things, and the announcements (of dates and venues) at the beginnings of discourse tapes have been expunged by Pune authorities, citing (as they do) Osho's guidance.

The CD-ROM does state venues but only for English original talks and those Hindi talks that had been translated as of 1993 or so, only about thirty and most of them preceding Pune One. As of the CD-ROM's creation, there were no Hindi series from 1977 that had been translated. Jagat Taraiya Bhor Ki (जगत तरैया भोर की) was translated shortly after the CD-ROM came out, but no cigar. We have to note that at the beginning of the Pune One period, neither Buddha Hall nor Chuang Tzu had been built, but the CD-ROM has the very first discourses in both English and Hindi in Buddha Hall, so the CD-ROM may have reliability issues as well.

QUESTION: About a particular anomaly in the English series, I Say unto You, Vol 1 and Vol 2: Article pages on Vols 1 and 2 discuss a certain mangling of data about how many and which discourse dates in each Vol. The timeline rendition (Osho Discourses 1977 article) seems to have adopted a new view again, ie unrelated to the possibilities discussed in the Vol 1 and Vol 2 articles, needs to be sorted out and/or explained here, istm. -- doofus-9 (talk) 19:00, 12 February 2015 (UTC)

and it delivers 9 as promised but the chapter dates are actually from 31-Oct to 8-Nov !

Sugit's note for the books states "It is a fact though that the remastered audio tapes (May 1992) were numbered Vol 1: 1-8 and Vol 2: 1-11."

My set of pre-remastered audio (date?) are numbered Vol 1: 1-10 and Vol 2: 1-9.

i just checked the audio tapes for Vol 1, ch 9 and 10 (presumably Vol 2, ch 1 & 2 on the remastered set) :

they are NOT on the CD-ROM. they must have goofed on these two chapters. they are probably (Sugit?) in the books (1st and 2nd ed), but not on the CD-ROM.

can we please scan, OCR and add them to the database ?

so far i have to assume that the CD-ROM is actually missing 30-Oct and 1-Nov and that all chapters of Vol 2 are dated and labelled incorrectly on the CD-ROM chapter level and should have been shifted two days later (as the "Talks given from 2/11/77 am to 10/11/77 am" indeed suggests).

that will also then give us the two missing Timeline AM sessions for 9-Nov and 10-Nov.

OK, so this has been checked, see e-mail from Sugit, 14 Feb 2015, with a table in spreadsheet I Say Unto You.xls comparing the text and chapters of the books, the audiotapes (remastered May 1992) and the MP3s from OshoWorld.

So we see that the chapters of the Remastered tapeMC have Vol1 is 1-8 and Vol 2 is 1-11, with dates the same as the book. So apparently around 1991 - 1992 there was an issue with Vol1, ch. 8 and 9, maybe they wanted to change vol 1 and 2 or so.

Conclusion: For the CD-ROM this led to Vol1 having ch. 1-8, forgetting ch. 9-10 AND they misstated the dates for Vol2. So CD-ROM is in error, all else has inconsistencies, but good. --Sugit (talk) 09:50, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
